Technology

Hi guys,
welcome back.
Just so you know this will be my last blog for the term.
But anyway, for this post I will be telling you about what Kaupeka hub does for tech.
First of all we go to Linwood college and take classes, they are...
Yr 7                               Yr 8
- Fabrics                         -Fabrics
- Cooking                       -Cooking
- Plastics                         -Metal
- Wood Works                -Electronics

However each class you go to takes one term, I am in Wood Works and we have learnt to put together a box and make a key chain. Turn out, it's a tougher and longer process then you would think.
I am really enjoying wood works but I also can't wait for all the new lessons to come.

What class do you think you would like to go to?

Digi Awards Invite

Hi guys.
Welcome back to my blog.
In the Kaupeka hub our driving question for PBL term has been...
What is Greatness?
We have all created a digital project in groups from 1-3 about what we think Greatness is.
You can enter under different categories and they are:
- Storytelling
- Commercial
- Website
- Coding

I have entered under storytelling, in each category there will be winners and if you win you will get an epic prize.
So here's an invite, hope you can make it!

Questions:
What Category would you enter under?
What do you think greatness is?

Our School Values

Hola everyone,
Today I'm going to be talking to you about our school values.
The first value is...

Respect:
To show respect you have to make sure that whatever you do, its not going to hurt anyone. You also need to give people space and make sure their okay with what your doing.

Integrity:
To have integrity you need to be honest and be able to own up to your mistakes. People should be able to trust you and you should always make sure that your not letting them down. Even if you did something bad, the best way to show integrity is by owning up to it.

Compassion:
The way to showing compassion is that you try to put yourself in other peoples shoes and take things from their point of view, you have to show that you care. Let them know that your always there for them no matter what.

Service:
Service can be as little as opening the door for someone, you just need to put others before yourself and be able to give up your time to those who need it most.

Questions:
What school values do you have at your school?
Are any of them the same as ours?
What do my schools values mean to you?

#ChooseKind T-shirt Designs

This term our school has been focusing on choosing kind and one way we have presented that is through our t-shirts that we have designed. What happens is that each house colour group (Red Yellow Green and Blue) split up into groups throughout those group and we designed some Kindness T-shirts. Each house group chooses one T-shirt that they will make real.
This is mine:
The way you can get a T-shirt is bye a teacher or a peer mediator seeing you choosing to be kind. They will write your name on a peace of paper and they will put you into a draw to win one of these T-shirts.

Questions:
- If you have a house group at your school what group are you in?
             - I've written my school values on my T-shirt what are your school values?

Thanks For Reading

Swimming Lessons

Hi guys,
today on my blog I'm going to talk to you about my school swimming lessons.
For the next two weeks we are going to be having swimming lessons at QE11, and  so far I am really enjoying it.
We're into the second week and I have already perfected a whole heaps of my strokes.
Want some tips?

 Tips
- When your doing breaststroke have your arms smaller because when you do it big you actually move backwards as well as you move forward.
- If you keep your head down you move faster.
- If you struggle with breathing (like in freestyle or something), don't think about it when your swimming and you'll find that your more relaxed.

And that's all from me, go check out my other blog posts, I'll be posting every week.
Bye for now.

Duathalon

Hey,
Welcome back to my blog.
Today I am going to talk to you about our school duathlon.
Doing the duathlon is an option, it's not like our school cross country when you have to do it. There's also another option when you can do it with a partner but that's non competitive.
I like a challenge so I like to go in the competitive section and do it by myself. I came second and I'm pretty proud but I was mostly tired, so instead of feeling excited for myself I was lying on my bag and feeling tired.

I recommend giving it a try if the opportunity comes up, even if you feel like your not good enough. It's always worth a try and when your finished you will be so proud of yourself for "giving it a go."

Have you ever done a duathlon?

Self Management levels

Hi everyone.
Welcome back to my blog,
so today I am going to blog about Kaupeka's self management levels.
The levels are:
Goomba town, Cookie Canyon, Fuzzy tree tops and Bowser's Ultimate layer.
Everyone is aiming to be in Bowser's Ultimate Layer, basically each step gives you more and more choice of what you do in your school time, including music, what workshops you go to, who you work with etc.
No one wants to be stuck in Goomba town by the end of the term.
Overall this will help us learn how to be organised and take control of our learning and how we help out in the school.
I wonder what level you would be on, why don't you take a guess in the comments.
Until next time,
Bye.
