Literacy Task #1

Hi everyone.
This week me and my classmates have three blog posts to do and this is my literacy/Reading one.
This week we were learning about the Caritas foundation and what the people in Papa New Guinea are going through.
Hearing about this and learning about this is really sad because every human has a right to speak and be heard.
I made this poster with a girl named Harriet.

Maths Task #1 - 2D/3D Relationships

Hi bloggers.
For this post I would like to show you the final product of my maths task.
What we were learning about was the relationship between 2D and 3D shapes and what's different about them.
Also I found that in some 3D shapes that aren't even could look very different from different angles.
We also had to make a 3D shape and then make the net of it which is on the right hand side of the poster.
But i'll leave the rest for you to read:

Can you name a shape that looks different from different angles?

Writing Task #1

Hello everyone.
This is my first writing task for 2020.
This task is about selecting words and phrases to enhance meaning and/or mood. This is also my goal for this task.
I have written my instructions about my PBL project which I have called the dance mat, but talking about my PBL is for another blog post.
I have also done two exercises to make the word better and enhance the mood into a happy mood.

Here's my work:
Q. What's three other ways to say the word Great?
Feel free to ask questions.

Treaty of Waitangi

Welcome to my blog.
For the start of the school year we have been learning a lot about the Treaty of Waitangi.
For this project there was quite a bit of activities to do throughout it. But it all lined up which was good. Basically we had to make a copy of some slides that the teachers had made, then we had to read the information and answer questions with the information we had.
After that we had to make a DLO - Digital, Learning, Object.

DLO - Digital, Learning, Object.

These are my slides

Q.Have you learnt any new information from these slides?
If so what have you learnt?

2020 Intro

Hello everyone.
"IT'S THE START OF A NEW YEAR."
This year I am really excited to be a year eight leader in my school.
There are quite a bit of upcoming events coming up this year that I am very excited about such as the Duathlon, the fair, Athletics, Koru games and so much more.
I enjoyed the holidays a lot, because like usual me and my family went camping and also went out on our boat.
Some of my hopes for this year are that I take a stand to being a good leader and role model, that I get further than usual in long jump, and that I make the most of this year as I am preparing for high school.

What are you excited for this year?

My Poetry - Swimming with the Fish

Aloha everyone.
Last holidays me and my family took a trip to America.
While we were there we went to some theme parks but there was one place in particular that I will remember forever and that was a place called Discovery Cove. It didn't have any rides or anything because it was more like experiences and views. There we got to swim with dolphins and fish and so that is what I have written my poem about.
Hope you like it?

Swimming With The Fish

As I took a dip under the blue
The colour flashed before my eyes

As the people talk and the ocean claps
I can see the fish feeding on their snacks

The humans crowd around
To watch the animals eat

The fish swarm in between our legs
Huddle up, then return and brush our feet

A boy squeals as the stinger brushes bye

When all he was trying to do was say hi.

Have you ever gone fishing before? Did you catch anything?
Have you ever swam with dolphins? What was it like?

Top Team

Hello bloggers, welcome back.
This blog is going to be about an event we did at school called top team.
It's where some people come into our school and set up some group challenges for us to do. We did this in our camp groups.
My favourite challenge was when we had to build the biggest tower we can until the time stops, we did this with some blue wooden blocks.
Another one of the challenges was when we each got a bucket and we lined up in a line. There was even bigger buckets in front of us filled up with water and then there was just a normal bucket at the back of the line. The person at the front had to fill it's bucket up with water and then tip the water into the person behind them's bucket and they had to do this going over the back of their heads, so without looking. You had to carry this on until the water get's to the end of the line and then the end person has to try and get the water into the end bucket.

Those are just some of the challenges that we did but there were way more.
What's a team building challenge that you've done at your school?
