What I Sold At The Market

Hey, and welcome back to my blog. So in this post I will be talking to you about my products that I am going to be selling at the school market on the 4th of Dec 2018.

My PBL (Project based learning) group is called SSS, that stands for Sling it, Smell it and Score it.
We are selling different types of perfume with some light smells and some strong smells, we tried to make a variety of different smells because their different opinions. Only for $1.00
Comment what type of perfume you like

However, that’s not all because we have an epic game that you can play. The best part is that you get to use slingshots to win prizes and from what we've heard, a lot of people like slingshots.
Anyway, you had to sling shot some tokens at a picture, different parts of the picture gives you different points.
Fortunately we were able to sell all the perfumes and get most people there to play the game.

Three was the highest score you could get, and whatever score you got you were able to get different prizes. The prizes were....

Stress Balls, loom band Bracelets, Tic tacs, Lollies and erasers.

If you had the chance to pick one of these prizes what would you pick?

Market Day

This term our Project Based Learning (PBL) has been about design and the big question was; How can we use a Steam approach to make a marketable product?

First we learned what STEAM stood for.
S for Science
T for Technology
E for Engineering
A for the Arts
and M for Maths
Then we were given challenges. The first to make a chair using newspaper, string and straws that was able to hold a figure made out of multi-link blocks.
Then; make a table that was able to balance MnMs for the team. We were much better at the first challenge because … We had an idea and we stuck to it which in the other one we had so many ideas that we lost track.

In Literacy we learned to write up science experiments and to write a technology report using the design process of ask, imagine, plan, create, improve and share.

Our next step was to form teams and ask ourselves the big question again.
How can we use a Steam approach to make a marketable product? Our aim was to create enough products or experiences and sell it to raise money for charity.

My team ran a game, in the game you had to slingshot the pictures and if you got three points you got three prizes, one point you get one prize and so on. We had to let the youngest kids throw at the target because we didn’t realise it would be so hard for them to use the slingshots. We also sold little bottles of perfume that all had a different sought of smell.

Reflection

My highlight from this PBL was making all the products and coming up with all the ideas. I liked making the targets to sling at and painting them as well.

Next time I would make sure that we had organised who had their breaks when and I would make sure that I had noticed that the slingshots were hard for the younger kids to use. I would keep the rest the same.

Team building

We have been doing team building and one of the challenges were making the longest paper chain. The only things we got to use was an big piece of paper,2 or 3 scissors and an arm length of tape.

Another one of the challenges were stacking cups without touching the cup.We also got to have a rubber band with five pieces of string on it.My groups strategy was each person grabbed one string each and it stretched the rubber band, then we put it on the cup.
We also did the pasta and marshmallow challenge. You had to make a tower.
One other thing we did was making a stretcher and you had to put heavy things on it and water in a cup then run it around outside without spilling it.
Team building is good because you are in a group. You can listen to other people for ideas.

Have you ever done team challenges like this at you school?

PBL Performance

This term our Project Based Learning (PBL) has been about cultural stories and the big question was;
What is the significance in the 21st Century of our Cultural stories?

First we brainstormed what culture is and came up with lots of ideas.
Culture is……
  • Where you are from
  • Traditions
  • Celebrations

Then we thought about our own culture and talked to our parents about our traditions and heritage.
I wrote a post about my family and things we like to do.
In Literacy we read and discussed myths and legends from around the world then we concentrated on
Maori legends.
I read….
  • Maui slowed down the sun
  • Maui and the bird women
  • The battle of the mountains
  • Maui and the big fish
One way I decided to present my work for legends was through a word find

We made a performance about the story Battle of the Mountains. Some students wrote the script,
some students took on the job of making all the artwork, some worked hard on organising the music
and others took on the role of bringing the story alive with dance and drama.

Reflection:
For our production I contributed by singing, dancing, helping to make the dances, writing some of the
script, contributing with ideas, helping to make costumes and doing some of the costumes in my own
free time at home.

I think the show might impact on others by teaching them some new legends, showing them some new
songs and making them happy with the movement and he music.

What I learned about working with others was that you really need to include other peoples ideas
because otherwise you might miss out on all these great opportunities to make your work better

Fortnite Artical

So, thanks for coming back to my blog.
So today I will be showing you a script of a news article about the famous game....
Fortnite
So let's get to it

Fortnite News Article
News Reporter 1: Felicity
News Reporter 2: Petra

News Reporter 1: Fortnite has taken the world of gaming to the extreme
News Reporter 2: Played from all these gamers who are pronounced Epic
in some people’s minds.
News Reporter 1: Their is over 3 million players they play all day
and all night.
News Reporter 2: As you can see fortnite has gone world wide
News Reporter 1: I personally don’t know that much about the game
fortnite but
my brother is very addicted. Fortnite is also leading to gambling.
One person spent over $100,000 on fortnite
News Reporter 2: Your brother must be just like my brothers. We have
interviewed our siblings about what they think about fortnite. Now here
are there answers.
News Reporter 1: My brother said that he absolutely loves the game.
He would play it so much if he was aloud. But mum and dad always tells
him to get off fortnite.
News Reporter 2: My brothers really like fortnite and think it is worth
playing. But surprisingly they have actually found a different game
called Rocket league. My Older brother said he likes how there is no
big violence like bleeding. He likes that he can play with his friends
and that there is a story behind it. The things he think could
improve would be the guns and also he wants the
double pump to come back.
News Reporter 1: You may have noticed some kids being a little bit
addicted to the game fortnite, or maybe you’ve found someone
very addicted. If you have an Idea of making fortnite not so obsessive
leave in the comments down below.

Here are my questions:
1. What are your thoughts about Fortnite?
2. Are there any more facts that would blow people away that you know of?

One way I think

Welcome back to my blog. Today I will be showing a strategy for my maths.
The strategy I will be showing you is about doing your work mentally, if you don't know it means doing it only in your head without writing it down.
I am going to present it to you in a way that I am not very familiar with. I have use Screencastify. In this Screencastify I am going to show you one strategy that I have learnt this year. I have put it into a little video using Lisa from the Simpsons as a character.
This is made by GIF's.
Sit Back, relax and enjoy

I really hope that you enjoyed my screencastify about doing your
work mentally.
Just one Question:
If you had to pick a character, who would it be?
